What is Silhouette Soft?

Silhouette Soft is a suspension thread made from poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) with small bidirectional cones made from a lactic and glycolic acid copolymer. The cones grip the soft tissue under the skin so the doctor can lift and hold it in a new position without surgical incisions.

Because the material is gradually absorbed by the body, the threads work in two ways: an immediate mechanical lift, followed by a slower phase in which the PLLA may stimulate your own collagen. Results vary, and many people find the effect lasts roughly one to one and a half years.

After mapping your face while you sit upright, your doctor marks entry points and vectors. Local anesthetic is placed at each small entry point, and the threads are passed through the subcutaneous fat layer with a fine cannula-like needle. Once positioned, the tissue is gently gathered along the cones and the excess thread is trimmed.

What to expect

Your visit begins with a consultation to check skin thickness, degree of laxity and medical history, since thread lifting is not appropriate for everyone. The procedure itself usually takes 30 to 45 minutes under local anesthesia, so you stay awake but numb at the entry points.

Afterward, some swelling, bruising, tenderness, a feeling of tightness or minor dimpling can occur; these usually settle within one to two weeks. A lifted appearance is visible right away and may continue to refine over the following months as collagen builds. Most people need one session, with a review after about a year.

Aftercare

• Avoid wide mouth opening, heavy chewing and vigorous facial expressions for about 1–2 weeks
• Sleep on your back with your head slightly raised for the first several nights

Frequently asked questions

Is Silhouette Soft the same as a PDO thread lift?

No. PDO threads are made of polydioxanone and often have barbs, while Silhouette Soft uses PLLA threads with cones. Your doctor can explain which option fits your anatomy and goals.

How long do the results last?

Results vary between individuals. Many people see the effect last about 12 to 18 months, as the threads gradually dissolve and collagen remodeling continues.

Will the threads be visible under my skin?

The threads sit beneath the skin and are generally not visible. Temporary dimpling or puckering can occur early on and typically smooths out as swelling settles.
