What is Excel V?

Excel V emits light that is absorbed by hemoglobin in blood vessels and by melanin in pigment. The absorbed energy heats and damages the abnormal target, after which the body gradually clears it.

It has three main modes. The KTP laser targets superficial redness and pigment near the surface. The long-pulse Nd:YAG reaches deeper vessels and pigment. The Genesis mode gently warms the dermis to support collagen and improve skin firmness and tone.

What to expect

After consultation, the skin is cleansed and eye protection is provided. Treatment takes about 10 to 20 minutes. You may feel a warm snap, which the contact cooling helps ease.

Temporary redness and mild swelling are common, and small vessels may look darker or bruised for a few days. Treated spots can darken and flake off naturally. Improvement usually builds over a series of sessions about two weeks apart. Results vary, and new vessels or pigment can appear over time.

Aftercare

• Moisturize and apply sunscreen when outdoors

Can Excel V help rosacea?

It may reduce visible redness and vessels associated with rosacea, but rosacea is a medical condition that often also needs topical or oral treatment, which a dermatologist will assess.

Does it bruise?

Bruising is uncommon with typical settings, but some treated vessels may look darker or slightly bruised for a few days.

How long do results last?

Treated vessels and spots can stay improved for a long time, though new ones may develop with sun, heat and aging. Maintenance sessions can help.
