What is PicoSure?

PicoSure uses a 755 nm wavelength delivered in pulses measured in trillionths of a second. These ultra-short pulses create a photoacoustic effect that breaks melanin into very fine particles, which the body can then clear more easily.

Because less heat builds up in surrounding tissue compared with longer pulses, pico toning may reduce the risk of irritation in suitable skin types. With a focusing lens, it can also create tiny zones of stimulation under the skin surface that may support collagen and improve texture and fine lines.

What to expect

After a consultation and cleansing, numbing cream may be applied for comfort. Treatment usually takes about 20 to 30 minutes, with a snapping sensation.

Mild redness, warmth or slight swelling may appear and generally resolves within a day. Treated spots can darken temporarily before fading. Improvements build over a series, often five or more sessions, spaced a few weeks apart. Results vary, and consistent sun protection helps maintain them.
